Current Opening - Child & Family Therapist
We're seeking a caring and compassionate, highly organized, self-motivated, team-oriented mental health professional to join The Amy Center! This position offers a pay range of $58-$60K (based on experience) and full sponsorship of obtaining clinical licensure. We will cover all fees associated with LCSW supervision and exams. Working as an integral part of our multidisciplinary model, this position will provide individual and group trauma- focused, evidence-based therapy, as well as needs assessments, crisis intervention, and even court preparation to victims of child abuse (physical & sexual) and, potentially, their non-offending familial caregivers to promote healing and safety. This role will office out of both Mt. Vernon and Centralia locations. After obtaining IL clinical licensure, salary will commensurate with credentials.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Amy Schulz Child Advocacy Center (CAC) provides comprehensive services to child victims of abuse and their non-offending caregivers in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) made up of law enforcement, child protective services, and state’s attorney’s offices. Working within this team environment, the child therapist provides individual and group trauma-focused, evidence-based therapy, as well as needs assessments, crisis intervention, and court preparation to victims of child abuse (sexual and physical) and potentially their non-offending protective caregivers to promote healing and safety.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct thorough and comprehensive initial clinical assessments

Develop comprehensive treatment plans using evidence-based, trauma-focused interventions

Provide crisis intervention as needed, individual, family, and group therapy

Prepare child victims for legal proceedings and offer testimony or advocacy if required

Promote the CAC program, offer trauma-informed care education, and support prevention efforts and CAC special projects/events as needed

Provide outreach, education, and training to community partners as assigned

Maintain ethical boundaries with clients, caregivers, and agency partners to ensure confidentiality of all clients

Be responsible for charting, discharge, and post-treatment planning

Maintain orderly records including but not limited to services provided, length of time a case is active, and a log of all referrals made to all (if any) other agencies

Ensure all documentation and required statistics related to provision of client services is completed in accordance with policies, procedures, grant reporting, and accreditation standards

Exhibit enthusiasm, respect, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude

Participate in case management/review, regular staff meetings, MDT meetings, in-service training, and judicial processes when appropriate to help ensure a coordinated effort to abuse

Remain current in clinical licensure

SKILLS REQUIRED:
High level of written and oral communication skills
Exemplary organizational skills
Proficient computer skills in mainly Microsoft Office and Google Calendar
Good judgement, tact, flexibility and ability to work efficiently and effectively in an individual setting or with a team
Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and balance diverse requirements noted above
Proficiency in navigating online resources such as virtual trainings and meetings
Knowledge of and sensitivity to family systems and child victims
Knowledge of the family dynamics of child sexual abuse
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
A master’s degree in social work, counseling or psychology is required. Must possess professional license to practice independently as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. TF-CBT certification is preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with the above qualifications who also possess experience through employment, volunteer efforts, or working with children and families facing trauma or abuse.
*REQUIRED: Successfully pass screening for the Child Abuse Neglect Training Systems (CANTS) and criminal background check. Must possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and insured vehicle.
